DVD-R vs. DVD+R

by Gregory Constantine on Jul.08, 2009, under Technology

bulkdiscstackI’m trying to figure out why people even bother using DVD+R’s anymore. Am I missing something? Is it cheaper than DVD-R’s? I really don’t understand this. Why… Why use a product, a DVD+R mind you, when it fails almost every time! Most DVD players, whether its attached to your TV or built into your computer, rarely play DVD+R’s. They just spin and spin and spin, never ever loading. They’ll burn fine, but playback? No.

Anyone else having this problem? (Rhetorical question, don’t answer.) Use the standard people. Stop buying DVD+R’s and purchase a real, will work all the time DVD-R. I can’t stress enough how bad the DVD+R’s suck.

Here is a brief match-up of DVD-R vs. DVD+R:

1) The DVD-R media formats are officially approved by the standards group DVD Forum. The DVD Forum was founded by Mitsubishi, Sony, Hitachi, and Time Warner, so it has tremendous industry support for its technical standards.

2) DVD+R formats are not approved by the DVD Forum standards group.

So there you have it folks, DVD-R media is officially approved by the top manufacturers with tremendous industry support for its technical standards.

STAY AWAY FROM DVD+R! It’s evil!
